SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball team opened Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play on Saturday with a straight-set defeat to No. 12 Berry College from Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Berry made quick work of Sewanee in the opening set, using just one attack error on 20 total attacks on offense. Meanwhile, the Tigers could not get anything going on their side of the net, as the Vikings won the set, 25-8.
-The Tigers came out strong in the second set, as the teams went back and forth. Sewanee had a 13-10 lead at one point, but Berry reclaimed the lead and did not relinquish, 25-23.
-In the final set, the Vikings fired 11 kills to the Tigers' five en route to a 25-13 victory.
-Berry is ranked 12th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) coaches poll.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Lydia Goffi led the Tigers with 11 points on nine kills and two aces, and
Ashley Crosby added eight digs.

-Peyton Brissinger recorded 11 kills and 10 digs for a double-double.
