JACKSON, Miss. - The University of the South baseball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader to Millsaps College to conclude the 2022 regular season, 7-3 and 9-2, from Twenty Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-The offense jumpstarted in the right way. After
Mac Gortney led off the game with a hit-by-pitch,
Ben Harper followed with a base knock. Later, after a
Wade Sansone sac bunt,
Wesley House brought both runners across with a two-run hit to right field.
-Millsaps scored two runs in the third to even the game, but a pinch-hit, three-run home run by the Majors in the fifth put the game out of reach.
-After leading off the seventh with a two-bagger, Gortney later scored in the inning thanks to a Millsaps error.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-Millsaps begin the night-cap with a five-spot in the bottom of the first before adding a run in the third and two in the fourth to lead 8-0.
-Sewanee did plate two runs in the seventh. Emmett Descherer went yard to lead off the frame, while
Patty Baca laced a pinch-hit double to left center, and he would later score on a
J.T. Carter sac fly.

Mac Gortney posted a three-hit day, including two in the night cap.

Wesley House drove in two RBI on the afternoon, while
Hayden Swisher punched out four batters in 3.1 innings of relief in game one.

-Chris Hart had back-to-back multi-hit games to place the Majors.

Sewanee will turn its attention to the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Baseball Tournament, set to begin next weekend with the opening round pod. The full bracket is set to be released by the conference office as late as Monday.
