HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-The Majors started the game with a two-out double in the top half of the first.
-Sewanee responded in the bottom half of the second. After
Eve Bournias led off the frame with a walk,
Kendell Goodrum laced a RBI base hit.
-Tied at a run each going into the top of the fourth, Millsaps used a four-run frame to push the lead to 5-1 in favor of the visitors.
-However, the Tigers began the comeback in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run frame.
Sarah Wright brought
Maggie Willis home with a base hit, and
Alice Charboneau followed with a two-run single to cut the deficit to one run.
-After a shut-down inning in the sixth, Sewanee got the bats going in the bottom half thanks to a
Peri Prestwood free pass. After a sac bunt,
Zoe Crockett brought Prestwood home on a base hit to right field to tie the game at five. However, the threat would end there as the next two batters would strike out.
-In the seventh, the Majors responded with a five-run inning, but the go-ahead run used the help of two groundouts to push her to third after she led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch. The Majors would score all of their runs with two outs in the frame.
-Sewanee would get the tying run in the on-deck circle in the bottom half of the seventh, but a groundout secured the win for Millsaps.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-The bats stayed hot for the visitors at the start of game two, as they pushed a lead up to 7-0 after two and a half frames.
-Sewanee saw
Maggie Willis and
Hanna Judycki lead off the frame with back-to-back base hits.
Alice Charboneau brought one of the runs home on a base hit. Following an
Eve Bournias base hit,
Peri Prestwood brought home Judycki thanks to a Majors error, and
Zoe Crockett recorded a RBI base knock of her own to cut the deficit to 7-3.
-Millsaps added a run in the fourth, but Sewanee made it a three-run game, 8-5, in the bottom half. Once again, the duo of Willis and Judycki started the inning off right for the Purple and White with back-to-back base hits. Later,
