ROME, Ga. - The University of the South track and field teams continued to show improvements as the conference championship is two weeks away at Berry College. This weekend, the track and field teams were in Rome for the second time this season as they participated in the Berry Field Day Invitational.

WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMERS

Janie Schmitt set a personal best and team-best time of 5:17.65 in the 1,500 meters, improving her time by six seconds.

Merrit Newton ran to a 20:11.44 mark for a new mark in the 5,000 meters.

Jocelyn Covaney earned a season-best time of 1:11.96 in the 400 hurdles, and in her first attempt in the outdoor season, she also recorded 4.29 meters in the long jump.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS

Travis Steele set a new performance mark in the 200 meters with a 23.59-second sprint.
Carson Coody also earned a personal best in the event with 24.44-second time.

Clayton Tillery (1.75m) and
Jack Hagan (1.70m) earned new season bests in the high jump.
