PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The University of the South baseball team competed in three games on Thursday and Friday at the Snowbird Baseball Classic. On Thursday, the Purple and White were defeated by Misericordia (Pa.), 10-2, and on Friday, Sewanee dropped decisions by No. 2 Marietta (Ohio), 6-4, and Baldwin Wallace, who is receiving votes in the D3baseball.com poll, 23-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED, MISERICORDIA
-The teams traded zeros for the first three innings, but in the bottom of the fourth, the Cougars would score four before adding three in the fifth to make it 7-0.
-In the ninth, Emmett Descherer posted a two-run double to avoid the shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED, MARIETTA
-On Friday, Sewanee got on the board first against the No. 2 in the country according to the D3baseball.com poll. Sewanee posted two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by
Luke Short and a double by
Jack Roode.
-In the third,
Wesley House scored off
Carter Huffman's bat to lead 3-0.
-However, in the next half inning,
Logan Martin saw three hard-hit balls to quickly erase the lead, capped off by a three-run home run.
-Sewanee had the opportunity to reclaim the lead in the bottom half of the fourth inning with the bases loaded and one out, but the next two Tigers would record an out to end the threat.
-The momentum from there stayed with Pioneers, as they added three more runs to claim the lead for good, 6-3.
-Sewanee did tack on a solo shot by House, his second of the season, but that would be as close as the Tigers would get.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Wesley House posted a 2-of-4 day at the plate with two runs scored and a dinger.

Mike Lewishall added a double and a run scored, while
