SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's lacrosse team used an 11-0 opening quarter to dominate past Piedmont University, 16-4, Saturday afternoon in the team's home opener from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee had a strong start at the goal, as they scored 12 straight in the first 26 minutes of competition.
-Leading 11-0 after the opening quarter,
Hattie Fogarty scored second goal of the game at the time with her second quarter strike with 9:05 left in the opening half.
-The Purple Tigers shot 50% (16-of-32) for the game and won 17 draw controls, including nine in the opening frame.
-On defense, Sewanee held Piedmont to 11 total shots, seven on target. Merryn Bumpass's goal with 3:51 left in the second stanza to avoid the shutout.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-10 Tigers recorded a goal on the day.
Hattie Fogarty led the Tigers with seven points on four goals and three assists. The senior also won four draws and scooped up three ground balls.

Emma Burns tallied five points with three dimes and two goals, while
Haley Lewis added four assists.

Lizzie Chamberlin and
Ellie Tate Schutte posted two goals each.
