MACON, Ga. / DECATUR, Ga. - The University of the South softball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader to Wesleyan College (Ga.), 8-1 and 2-1. On Sunday, after falling 14-2 to Agnes Scott College in game 1, the Tigers edged the Scotties in the nightcap, 6-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In game one, Sewanee's
Peri Prestwood launched a ball over the fence for a two-out, solo homer. However, the lead did not last long, as Agnes Scott scored six runs in the bottom of the first.

Sarah Wright posted an RBI double in the third to score
Eve Bournias, but the Scotties added two runs in the bottom half and six in the fourth to seal the game.
-In the second game, Agnes Scott opened the night cap with a two-run homer. However, Sewanee would respond with two 3-run frames in the second and the third. In the second,
Jenna Speer and
Zoe Crockett recorded back-to-back base knocks to even the score at two runs each.
-Following a strikeout,
Eve Bournias gave Sewanee the lead with a RBI base hit to center field.
-In the third,
Jenna Speer posted a two-run double to make it 5-2 in favor of the Purple and White. Next,
Zoe Crockett brought Speer home on a base hit.
-The Scotties added three runs in the fifth to make it a 6-5 game in favor of the Tigers, but Sewanee was able to slam the door.

Jenna Speer recorded a 2-for-3 day at the plate in game two with two runs scored and three RBI.

Peri Prestwood went 2-for-4 in game two and added a solo homer in the game one.
AGNES SCOTT KEY STATISTICS
-Kristen Gilbert went 3-for-4 in the night cap for the Scotties and totaled four hits on the day.
-Kat Fernandez was a perfect 3-for-3 day in the opening game with three runs scored.
