SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South baseball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader to Millikin University (Ill.), 7-1 and 8-3, from Montgomery Field.
Millikin is receiving votes in the preseason D3baseball.com Top-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-The Big Blue used a first inning rally to take the early 1-0 lead before adding two more in the third inning. In the fifth, Garrett Fritz launched a solo homer to make it a 4-0 affair.
-In the seventh,
Wesley House posted an RBI double to score
Jack Roode.
-Millikin put the game away thanks to a three-run eighth.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-In the nightcap, the visitors picked up the offense from game one and had a 3-0 lead after an inning and a half.
-The Purple and White answered with a three-spot in the bottom of th eseocnd. Four straight Tigers reached base to start the inning. After a
Jack Roode leadoff two-bagger and a
Wesley House base knock,
Wade Sansone and
Dean Vencil posted back-to-back RBI singles to make it a 3-2 deficit.
-After a
Drew Noblet sac bunt and an Emmett Descherer base on balls,
TJ Meyn got a fly ball deep enough to score Sansone. Unfortunately for Sewanee, the rally would end with the score all square at three runs apiece.
-Millikin reclaimed the lead for good thanks to five unanswered runs.
