Four Swimming & Diving Athletes Qualify for A-Cut Finals; Championships Schedule Adjusted

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of the South Swimming and Diving teams participated in Day Two of the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday. While the swimming preliminaries were conducted as scheduled, the rest of Thursday's events have been postponed due to inclement weather.

SCHEDULE UPDATES
-Due to the threat of inclement weather in the Birmingham area on Thursday, the championship schedule has been adjusted. After approval from the coaches, the championship will continue into Sunday morning. Below is the updated schedule: 

Friday, 10 a.m. - Thursday Finals; One-Meter Dive (Women) and Three-Meter Dive (Men)
Friday, 6 p.m. - Friday Prelims
Saturday, 10 a.m. - Friday Finals; Three-Meter Dive (women)
Saturday, 6 p.m. - Saturday Prelims (Senior Recognition to Occur before competition)
Sunday, 10 a.m. - Saturday Finals; all 1,650 freestyle swims

TOP FEMALE PERFORMERS
-Mary Louise LeMieux won 500 free preliminaries with a 5:11.42 to advance to the A-Cut final, finished over two seconds faster than Greer Manger of Centre. 

-Aurelia Willett posted a 5:19.48 in the 500 to advance to the A-Cut final, while Kate Mabry's fifth place time of 2:13.57 in the 200 IM is good enough to compete in Friday's A-Cut final. 

-Sarah Mehany made the B-Cut final with a 5:34.68 in the 500, while Anna Hawkins Dulaney posted a 10th-place mark of 25 seconds flat to make the B-Cut final in the 50 free.

TOP MALE PERFORMERS
-George Mabry qualified for the A-Cut final in the 50 freestyle with a 21.75-second mark, improving his season-best by half of a second. 

-Wednesday night in the one-meter dive, Ben Jackson posted 261.10 points for seventh place. 

UP NEXT
Day three of the championships will start up on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Thursday's final events plus the women's one-meter diving and the men's three-meter diving events. The evening session at 6 p.m. will be the Prelims on Friday morning's schedule.
