SEWANEE, Tenn. - The No. 22 University of the South men's tennis team saw its match with NCAA Division II opponent Carson-Newman University come down to the final point, but the visiting Eagles leave town with the 5-4 victory, Tuesday evening from the Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Two of the three doubles points went to a tiebreak. At the number two flight, freshmen
Mark Motlow and
Quinn Wicklund knocked off Ids Waterbolk/Gjorgji Jankulovsk, 7-5, to win the point, 8-7.
-
Hugh Graham and
Liam Baer's third win of the season at the No. 3 flight gave Sewanee the 2-1 lead going into singles. The duo posted an 8-5 win of Marnix Van Dalen/Rintaro Oka.
-In singles,
Noah Holsclaw took the No. 3lifht with a straight-set victory. However, CNU secured victories at hte No. 2, 4 and 6 points to to claim the 4-3 lead. However,
Talman Ramsey used a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 5 to even the score at four apiece.
-That left
Ryan Olps and Van Dalen to decide the match. After falling in the opening set, the senior from Suwanee, Ga. posted the 6-4 set win to force the deciding set.
-Despite Olps being up midway through the set, Van Dalen won two straight games to clinch the match, 7-5.
