ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) on Monday morning, two University of the South volleyball players,
Laurel Burkhardt and
Ellie Pedersen, were selected to the All-SAA Team, as nominated and voted on by the head coaches of the league.
Burkhardt was tabbed to the Second Team, while Pedersen was named an Honorable Mention.
Burkhardt led the team in points with 287 thanks to 258 kills, eight service aces and 40 total blocks. The Hoover, Ala. native averaged 2.78 points per set and tallied a .177 swing percentage in conference play.
Pedersen becomes the fifth player in program history to be a three-time All-Conference selection, joining Constance Connolly C'20, Melissa Riley C'95, Destiny Stewart C'21 and Jamie Sue Wilson C'15.
The Nashville, Tenn. native finished third in the SAA in hitting percentage with .273 (155-38-429). Additionally, her 86 total blocks was eighth-best against others from the SAA.
Sewanee finished with a 10-16 record and secured a 10-win season or better for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
