SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South swimming and diving teams wrapped up the Advent Semester with the Igloo Invitational. The women's team took home the top spot, while the men finished in second place.

TOP FEMALE PERFORMERS
-The women's team picked up 16 gold medals and 10 silvers in the weekend victory.
Mary-Louise LeMieux picked up three victories over the weekend. In the 100 free, after clocking a 54.58 time in the prelim, she won the event with a 54.78-second performance.
-Later, in the mile, the sophomore picked up a season-best time of 18:14.23, beating Alli Wells of UT Southern by nearly a full minute.
-LeMieux capped off the weekend with a personal best time of 4:50.59 in the 400 individual medley. Additionally, she picked up a split time of 24.28 seconds in Sewanee's win during the 200 medley relay.

Audrey Francell earned podium honors in each of her three individual events over the weekend. Winning the 50 free prelim with a 25.53-second sprint, she improved her timein the final, swimming to a 25.43-second finish and edging out teammate
Natalia Evans and Tania Badillo Ranero from Bethel by nearly 0.2 seconds.
-The freshman also picked up personal-best times in the 100 butterfly. After qualifying for the final with a prelim time of 1:02.05, Francell touched the wall first with a 1:01.67 in the final. Additionally, her personal time of 55.43 seconds in the 100 free was good for second place.

Rachel Little went from season best to personal best in the 200 IM. The sophomore recorded a 2:19.57 time in the prelim, but in the final, she improved her time by over five seconds to win the event with a 2:14.26.
-In the 100 breaststroke, the top four swims in the preliminary were separated by 1.05 seconds. Little took fourth in the prelim, but in the final, the same four swimmers were separated by 1.69 seconds, but it was Little's 1.11.00 performance that secured the event.
Sarah Mehany (1:12.66) swam a season-best in the event, while
Aurelia Willett (1:12.69) set a new PR.
-Willett picked up two wins, earning season-bests in the 200 free and 500 free. In the 200, she improved on a 2:03.42 preliminary time to finish with the gold in the event with a 2:01.57. In the 500, she earned the top spot by narrowly beating Charlotte Stull of Campbellsville by 0.01 seconds with a 5:28.75.
-The sophomore picted up season-best times in relay events as well in the 200 free (2:04.01) during the 800 free relay and a 1:01.45 in the 100 back during the 400 medley relay.
-Sewanee picked up victories in each relay event that was listed over the weekend: 200 free relay (1:40.87), 400 medley relay (4:13.76), 800 free relay (8:13.91), 200 medley relay (1:54.47) and 400 freestyle relay (3:45.14).
-On the diving boards, Sewanee swept the one- and three-meter boards.
Greta Cobb edged teammate
Katie Walker by 10 points with a 438.82 score on the low dive. Walker picked up the win on the high dive, however, scoring a 383.30.

TOP MALE PERFORMERS

George Mabry won gold in the 500 freestyle and took second in the 100 free. The junior had a season-best performance of 21.72 seconds in the prelim. Later in the final, Mabry touched the wall first with a 21.96-second sprint, beating Grady Wheeler of UT Southern by 0.24 seconds.
-In the 100 butterfly, after clocking in a 52.19 seconds in the prelim, Mabry performed a personal-best in the final, winning the event by 1.23 seconds with a 51.88-second performance.
-Taking second with a season-best time of 48.25 in the 100 free final, he also collected two season-best times in relays, 24.95 seconds in the 50 back during the 200 medley relay and 54.18 seconds in the 400 medley relay.
-Freshman
Naeem Mangum took second in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best of 1:01.89. In the 200 breaststroke, he clocked in with a PR of 2:22.46 in the prelim before earning silver in the final with a 2:24.91. Additionally, he clocked in a 4:43.35 in the 400 IM for third place.

Daniel Shrader took home gold in the 200 individual medley, setting a new personal best in the event. The senior won the prelim with a new best of 2:04.77. However, in the final, his time of 2:03.15 was the fastest in the event, and thanks to a 29.55-second split on his final 50 yards, he bat out Dayan Rodriguez of UT Southern by over three seconds.
-Shrader also took third in the 50 free final with a season-best of 22.72 seconds and earned a PR in the 100 fly (56.28). Additionally, his 200 free of 1:55.58 in the 800 free relay was also a season-low.

Peter Heck scored 286.65 points to win the one-meter diving event.
UP NEXT
After the team's annual training trip to Florida over the holiday break, the University of the South returns to action on Jan. 21 with a tri-meet against UT Southern and Rhodes.
