SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's basketball shattered a 32-year record, as the Tigers set a new scoring record for points in a game with a 131-101 demolishing of Warren Wilson College, Friday night inside Juhan Gymnasium in the opener of the Lon Varnell Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Facing the Grinnell style offense in Warren Wilson, Sewanee sprinted out to a 10-point lead, 14-4 at the under-16 media timeout.
-Keeping pace with the Owls, the Tigers had a 14-point lead at the break, 61-47.
-Sewanee went on an 11-5 run to start the second half to push the lead to 20 en route to a 30-point win.
SETTING A NEW SCHOOL RECORD
-With
Quinn Damm's triple with 2:32 left in the game, the Tigers set the new school record for most points in a game. Sewanee breaks a 32-year record for most points in a game. On Feb. 10, 1990, Sewanee rolled to a 123-91 victory at home against Fisk (Tenn.).
-Sewanee's 131 points is the fifth-most in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) history, and it is the most points in a game since 2019.

-Everybody who participated in the contest on Friday night contributed to the 131 points.
-Leading the way was
Russ Marr, who dropped 37 points in 18 minutes on 11-of-14 shooting and seven triples. The sophomore set a new career-best in points and matched top marks in field goals (11), 3-point field goals (7) and blocks (3).

Graham Smith recorded his first collegiate double-double, setting career-bests with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
-In 14 minutes off the bench,
Blake Bouldin matched his career-best with 17 points, with 16 coming in the second half.

Colin Kahl totaled nine points and added seven rebounds.
-Posting 31 assists on 44 made field goals,
John Crump had 10 dimes, while
Luka Avaliani added seven.

-Jeremiah Daye led the Owls with 20 points and added seven rebounds, while Nedas Nacickas added 18 points.
