ROME, Ga. - The University of the South women's soccer team fell for the first time in the 2021 season to Berry College, 2-0, Saturday afternoon from Bob Pearson Field. This was the conference opener for both programs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Berry got the offense going early in the match. In the ninth minute, Sophia Coon struck the back of the net to give the hosts the 1-0 advantage.
-Over two minutes later, Coon found Kendall Varitek open for the goal to give the Vikings the 2-0 lead.
-Sewanee posted 12 shots on the day, seven on-target, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
-The loss is the Sewanee's first of the season, ending a streak of six straight where the Tigers were unbeaten. The 5-0-1 start prior to Saturday's action was the best start in program history.
