MEQUON, Wis. - The University of the South field hockey team was defeated by Concordia University Wisconsin, 3-1, Saturday afternoon from Tomasini Stadium. This was the Southern Athletic Association opener for both squads.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Concordia's defense was strong in the first period, as the Tigers were unable to muster a shot in the first 15 minutes. On the other side of the field,
Claire Damare posted seven stops in the first quarter.
The scoreless tie lasted until the 28th minute, as Caroline Slick netted the first goal of the game. It was CUW's only shot attempt of the period.
-Slick added a second goal 1:46 into the third period, but
Molly Wheeler cut into the deficit with her goal in the 44th minute thanks to an assist by
Caroline Pulliam and a penalty corner by
Moira Darling.
-With only three shots in the second half by Sewanee, Concordia Wisconsin sealed the win with a 58th minute strike by Megan McPike.
