LEXINGTON, Va. - The University of the South football program opened the 2021 season with a 52-0 setback to Washington and Lee University, Saturday afternoon, from Wilson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-On W&L's first drive of the game, the Generals used a 51-yard rushing score to get on the board.
-The Generals added another score to lead 14-0 at the first quarter before doubling their total to 28-0 at the break.
-WLU added 17 points to lead 45-0 after three quarters before adding a fourth quarter score to win the contest, 52-0.

Cooper Hancock threw for 88 yards on 6-of-15 passing.
Dagem Samuel caught 63 yards receiving.

Jeremiah Young recorded 37 rushing yards, while
Hunter Jones added 31 on the ground.

WASHINGTON AND LEE KEY STATISTICS
-The Generals posted a 472-yard performance, all coming from the running game. Josh Breece had 144 yards on 10 carries and two scores.
-Parker Corley had five tackles while Robert Poindexter had 1.5 sacks and five tackles.
