SEWANEE, Tenn. - The No. 21 University of the South men's tennis team won three points on Saturday, but it was Emory University who won both matches on the Domain. The Eagles posted an 8-1 win in game one and 7-2 in the nightcap.
Emory finished the 2020 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings as the best team in NCAA Division III. Ranked the top team in the first Atlantic South Region rankings that were announced earlier this week, the Eagles won the 2019 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED, MATCH #1
-Emory took care of doubles play, but
Alejandro Becker and
Peyton Erck gave their opponents a run at the No. 1 flight. However, Hayden Cassone/Alec Rabinowitz posted the 8-6 victory.
-In singles, the Eagles won five of the six points to win the match. However, Erck cruised to a straight-set win over Mark Sverdlov, 6-1, 7-5, for the third victory of his freshman season.

-In the nightcap, the visitors swept doubles play once again, but the Purple and White's first two players in the singles lineup came out strong.
-At the No. 1,
Jack Metzger earned his fourth win of the year with a three-set triumph over Will Wanner. The players would split the first two sets, but the senior in Metzger claimed the 6-4 set score to secure the point.
-Next, at the No. 2,
Noah Holsclaw picked up his seventh win of the season with a three-set marathon with Mark Sverdlov. After falling in the first set, the sophomore forced two tiebreaks with his opponent and won both of them, 7-6 (7) and 7-6 (4).
