CLASS OF 2021!
-Prior to the match on Sunday, Sewanee's lone senior Catherine Owen was honored. A four-year letterwinner with the program, she participated in the 2019 NCAA Singles Championships and is a three-year member of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Regular Season and Tournament Championship teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee took care of doubles play, allowing just six points to the opposition. Catherine Owen/Emma Smith and Natalia Nassar/Nicole Nowak allowed just one point each in the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, respectively.
-In singles, the Tigers cruised to a sweep. Owen recorded a 7-6, 6-3 win over No. 43 Katharine Sherman at the No. 1 point for her fifth win of the 2021 campaign.
-Caroline Adams picked up her sixth win of the year with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ella Rueff at the No. 2 point.
-Nicole Nowak also won her fifth match of the year with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph of Caroline Stallings at the No. 4 point.
-Since Sewanee and Centre became founding members of the SAA in 2013, the Tigers have dominated the series, winning all 10 regular season meetings and outscoring the Colonels, 81-9.
