Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball program recorded a 3-0 loss ot the Scots of Covenant College, Friday evening inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams rallied back-and-forth for the opening set, but after Covenant took a timeout with a 14-13 lead, the visitors finished the set on an 11-5 run to win the set, 25-18.
-In the second set, despite the Scots portraying the lead for the most part, the Tigers made it interesting. Trailing 24-22, Sewanee won the next two points to even the set and force the situation where a team has to win by two.
-Tied at 25, Sewanee secured set point after a Covenant attack error. However, the Tigers could not clinch the set, as the Scots posted the 29-27 win.
-The Tigers came out strong in the third, winning five straight points thanks to three attack errors and an ace. However, following a timeout, the Scots won the eight of the next nine to reclaim the lead, 9-6.
-Covenant remained in control until they clinched match point at the 24-20 mark. Sewanee won the next three points thanks to two kills by Lexi Dean and Lydia Goffi, but it was not meant to be, as the visitors secured the straight-set win.
-Despite dropping a valiant effort in the second set, Sewanee did record a better hitting percentage than their counterparts, .242 to .140. Covenant committed 10 errors in the set to Seawnee's four.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Lilly Reilly led Sewanee with nine kills and seven digs, while Ellie Pedersen and Lydia Goffi each added seven kills. Additionally, Goffi also contributed three solo blocks.
-Lexi Williams contributed 25 assists, and Sydney White totaled nine digs.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Emma Kalbfleisch posted a .562 hitting percentage, draining 10 kills on 16 attempts while committing one error.
-Savannah Savage recorded 17 digs, while Rachel Bartlet assisted on 32 kills.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will host Young Harris for a scrimmage on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Sewanee's next regular season match will happen on April 10 vs. Union (Tenn.).
