SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's basketball team suffered an 81-73 setback to No. 23 Maryville College, Tuesday night inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The two teams saw some early success from the floor in the opening half. However, despite Sewanee's 71.4% mark from the floor (15-of-21), it was Maryville's 7-of-11 performance from downtown that gave the visitors the 43-38 advantage at the halftime intermission.
-The Tigers trailed by as much as 15 points in the second half, but the Scots were able to secure the victory on the road thanks to late turnovers by the home team.
-Maryville, who won the 2021 USA South West Division Championship last spring, is ranked 23rd in the preseason poll by D3hoops.com.

Colin Kahl posted another 20-point performance on Tuesday with 26 on 7-of-12 shooting and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. He also added six boards.

Russ Marr contributed 12 points, six boards and five dimes.

Luka Avaliani recorded 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
MARYVILLE KEY STATISTICS
-Myles Rasnick posted 16 points to lead Maryville, but Kordell Kah and Jekobe Coleman added 13 and 12 points, respectively, off the bench.
