Ellie Pedersen has been chosen as the SAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after her performance in Sewanee's week of action against Maryville, Emory and Hendrix.
The weekly award is chosen by the league's head volleyball coaches.
The Nashville, Tenn. native improved her season hitting percentage to .302 thanks to 34 kills and committing just three errors. In 10 sets, the senior posted a swing percentage of .484 (34-3-64). Totaling 38.5 points on the week, she also assisted on nine blocks.
In the Tigers' sweep of the Scots of Maryville College, Pedersen committed just one error in 19 swings, finishing with 12 kills and a .579 percentage. Sewanee took down Maryville in straight sets at home for the first time since Oct. 12, 1996.
In the Purple and White's match versus No. 13 Emory on Saturday, Pedersen dropped eight kills on 16 swings without committing an error and assisted on four blocks.
The next day against Hendrix, she tabulated a .414 percentage thanks to 14 kills and two errors committed in the Tigers' four-set victory over the Warriors.
So far in 2021, Pedersen is third in the league in hitting percentage with a .302 mark (89-19-232).
The Tigers return to action this weekend with home matches against Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps.
