Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten in SAA Play with Clean Sheet of Petrels

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's soccer team claimed a 4-0 win over Oglethorpe in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play on Saturday afternoon from Puett Field thanks to three second half goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers came on taking shots in the first 45 minutes of the contest, taking eight shots to six by the Stormy Petrels. With a little over five minutes left in the period, Isabel Washko found Nika Gorski's pass for her fifth goal of 2019.

-Despite a wide shot by Sara McDade of Oglethorpe, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.

-Almost six minutes into the second half, Washko found Addie Roemershauser for her second goal of the match and the sixth of the season.

-In the 78th minute, after an Oglethorpe corner kick went wide, the Tigers gained control of possession and sprinted down the field to score the third goal. Mimi Davis went one-on-one with the keeper as it landed in the back of the net.

-Despite missing a penalty kick a few seconds later, Davis struck again for the second goal of the match in the 87th minute.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Bea Richardson and Mimi Davis each had four shots for Sewanee in the match. Richardson had three shots on goal, while Davis had two of her four on-target.

-Isabel Washko had two goals on the day on three shots on goal.

-Hanna Judycki (2-3-2) saved two shots in full time.

OGLETHORPE KEY STATISTICS
-Kiera Burkey led the Petrels with three total shots, two on goal.

-Lindsey Bolas (6-3-2) saved five shots in 45 minutes of action.

UP NEXT
The Tigers will continue the current homestand Friday night against Rhodes. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
