SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 15, 2017) – The No. 16 ranked Sewanee women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 9-0 sweep of rival Rhodes, Saturday.
The Tigers wrap up their regular season with a 16-5 record. Sewanee has won 10 out of its last 11 matches.
In doubles, Sewanee won both its matches by 8-0 scores. Clementina Davila and Darby Duval defeated Doherty and Arnold while Taylor Sprouse and Sara Thompson topped About and McDonald by the same score. Sewanee also won by default at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Christina Merchant won at No. 1 against Doherty 6-2, 6-2. Crumbliss then topped Arnold at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1.
After Meredith Heitland swept Abbott at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0 Abbie Vaughn rolled over McDonald at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2.
Finally, Maura McCrary defeated Mullen at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2.
