Box Score ATLANTA - After a slow start by the Sewanee volleyball team, the Tigers were able to defeat Oglethorpe in four sets on Saturday afternoon at Dorough Field House.
Even though Sewanee had 12 kills to Oglethorpe's (3-18, 1-12) six, the Stormy Petrels edged the Tigers, 25-23 in the first set.
After that, the Purple and Gold (11-11, 5-8) went on an attacking spree, out-killing their opponents, 51-23, with an attack percentage of .319 (51-13-119) in the next three sets, winning 25-16, 25-17, 25-22.
Destiny Stewart posted her highest attack percentage in conference play and her second-highest overall in 2017. The Alpharetta, Ga. native posted a .528 hitting percentage thanks to 22 kills on three errors and 36 total attacks. The Freshman also collected her ninth double-double of the year thanks to 15 digs.
Olivia Nichols missed her season mark in kills by one, as she totaled 12 kills on a .313 attack percentage (12-2-32) with 12 digs of her own.
Constance Connolly recorded 24 assists, four service aces and 15 digs in the win for Sewanee.
The Tigers next wrap up the weekend with a tri-match at Berry. The Tigers will take on the Vikings before squaring off with Agnes Scott.
