Men's Soccer Earns First Win over Berry in School History

Box Score

SEWANEE, Tenn. - In the ninth meeting all-time between these two schools, the Sewanee men's soccer team made history Sunday, earning their first win against Berry in school history, defeating the Vikings, 1-0 from Puett Field in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup.

The Tigers found the offense in the 21st minute. After a Berry foul that gave the Tigers possession, Kyle Johnston found Johnny McNeill's pass for his fifth goal of the season.

Following the goal, the Tigers defense stood tall against the Vikings (3-5-0, 0-2-0), who only had two shots on goal, both coming in the second half.

Will Merriman (5-5) recorded the clean sheet, saving the two shots on goal.

The Tigers hit the road to take on Birmingham-Southern Friday night to continue SAA play.
