Volleyball starts season 4-0 by winning Sewanee Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 3, 2016)  The Sewanee volleyball team earned a pair of victories Saturday to win the Sewanee Invitational inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The Tigers defeated Pensacola Christian 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-17) to open the afternoon and then topped Middle Georgia State (25-12, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22).

On the day, Sewanee was led by senior Diamond Stewart who finished with 18 kills against PCC and 19 against MGSU. Fellow classmate Sara Jayne Sutton added 34 total digs on the day while freshman setter Anna Wilson added 36 total assists.

As a team, Sewanee hit a combined .209 on Saturday. 

The Tigers will look to continue their winning streak with contests against Covenant, LaGrange, and LeTourneau at the Rhodes Invitational next weekend.
