SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 10, 2016) – The No. 10 ranked Sewanee women's tennis team crushed Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Millsaps, 9-0, Sunday, at the Bruton-Guerry Tennis Courts.
The Tigers head into their final conference weekend with a 15-5 overall record and a perfect conference mark at 5-0. Sewanee has won eight straight matches and are unbeaten since the SAA started as a conference.
In doubles action, Lindsey Liles and Clementina Davila won their 21st match in 2016 with a perfect 8-0 victory against Ford and Kanank at No. 1. At No. 2, Bea Benavides and Mary Jane McCaghren defeated Hayek and Sharp, 8-4.
Finally, Kate Johnston and Elske Parker topped Barbier and Brahce 8-1 at No. 3.
Ahead 3-0 heading into singles, Maggie Crumbliss defeated Kanank with a pair of 6-1 set wins at No. 2. Taylor Childress then defeated Sharpe at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1 while Christina Merchant rolled over Ford at No. 1, 6-3, 6-3.
Finally, both Haley Tucker (No. 5) and Maura McCrary (No. 6) won at their positions with 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Sewanee returns to action at 9:00 a.m. (EST) against Oglethorpe in Atlanta on Saturday.
