ATLANTA (March 25, 2016) – Down 4-3 with two matches being played, the No. 10 Sewanee women's tennis team rallied for a 5-4 win against long-time rival No. 24 Trinity, Friday, at Emory University.
Playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation, the Tigers are now 10-5 overall. Sewanee has now won three straight matches and five of its last six contests.
Down to its final point, Trinity could not close out both Lindsey Liles and Taylor Childress. Liles rallied to win the final deciding set 6-0 against No. 46 ranked Marie Lutz. Lutz took the first set at No. 1 7-6 before Liles won the second set 6-2.
Childress finished her match with a 6-3 win in the third against Gabby Roe. After Childress won the first set also at 6-3, Roe won the second set also at 6-3.
The Tigers opened the match as Liles and Clementina Davila won at No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
After Trinity took the remaining two matches, Maggie Crumbliss tied the match at 2-2 with a strong 6-1, 6-0 win over Andrea Deleon at No. 4.
Trinity then won at No. 3 and No. 2 before Annie Veron set up the comeback with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Cheyanne Duncan.
Sewanee returns to action with a 9:00 a.m. match against DePauw, Saturday.
