SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2016) – The No. 12 Sewanee women's tennis team rolled past regional-foe Piedmont, 9-0, Friday at the newly opened Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center.
The Tigers are now 3-2 overall.
After sweeping all three doubles matches, Sewanee crushed the Lady Lions in singles.
At No. 1 singles, Christina Merchant earned a 6-0, 6-2 win against Nicole Parrish. She was followed by a 6-0, 6-2 victory by Taylor Childress at No. 2 over Durden Smith.
After Sara Thompson defeated Morgan Cowart at No. 3 with a score of 6-0, 6-1, Maura McCrary swept Amanda Blackwell 6-0, 6-0.
Finally, Sewanee closed out its perfect day with a win at No. 5 by Bea Benavides over Karina Rivera (6-0, 6-0) and a victory by Mariah Smith at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0) against Tabea Soelter.
