Second-half surge helps Emory & Henry pull away from Sewanee

EMORY, Va. (Nov. 18, 2016)  Ahead by eight at halftime, host Emory & Henry outscored the Sewanee women's basketball team 41-25 the final two quarters for an 80-56 win inside the John Rutledge King Center.

The Wasp took advantage of their size outrebounding Sewanee, 48-27. That led Emory & Henry to 44 points, a 20-point advantage, inside the paint.

Overall, Emory & Henry made 50 percent of its attempts while forcing 17 Tiger turnovers. Sewanee hit 38.3 percent of its shots and had 15 assists on 23 total field goals.

Individually, junior Hannah McCormack finished with 18 points and four rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Sue Kim, who had 13 points. Bella Taylor finished with nine points while Savannah Rose pitched in seven.

Forward Peyton Williams led E&H with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Taylor Blevins added 10 points inside while reserve Sydney McKinney finished with 11.

Sewanee returns to action at Wesleyan, Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
