Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2015) – The Sewanee women's soccer team twice answered deficits in a 2-2 double-overtime draw at No. 13 Centre, Saturday.
Down by a goal in each half, the Tigers answered back with scores from Mary "Sissy" Frank, in the 38th minute, and by a second-half goal from Savannah Williams.
Sewanee (2-3-2, 0-0-1 SAA) found themselves down early in the first half, as Centre (8-1-1, 0-0-1 SAA) scored the opening goal by Destinie Graves.
After Frank answered back which made the match 1-1 at halftime, the Colonels retook the lead as Graves scored again in the 64th minute.
However, the Tigers again did not quit when Williams found the back of the net in the 83rd minute.
That forced two scoreless overtime periods. In fact, with both teams fighting fatigue, Sewanee and Centre combined for three shots the final 20 minutes.
Overall, Sewanee had a 12-9 edge in shots and a 6-5 advantage in corners.
Williams led the offense with three shots. Shelby Meckstroth finished with two attempts and one assist. Elizabeth Eidson and Tasha Saunders, who both had a pair of shots, joined her.
Sewanee returns to action with a 1:00 p.m., (EST) match at Berea, Sunday.
