Sewanee falls short at in-state rival Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2015) – A second-half goal by in-state rival Maryville was enough to push the host Scots to a 1-0 victory over the Sewanee men's soccer team, Tuesday.

After not losing this past weekend, Sewanee now has a record of 2-3-1. Maryville improved to 5-1-0 this season.

The only goal of the match came in the 58th minute as Thomas Palmer scored on a free kick.

Overall, Maryville led in shots 21-11. With that, Sewanee did manage to edge the Scots in corners by a 5-4 advantage.

Individually, freshman Kyle Johnston led the attack with four shots.

Sewanee returns to action when they host Methodist for a 2:30 p.m. match against Methodist, Sunday.
