CLAREMONT, Calif. (March 17, 2015) – The No. 14 Sewanee women's tennis team swept Biola 9-0, Tuesday, in Claremont, California.
The Tigers are now 7-3 overall and have won two of their three matches out west.
Sewanee started by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Tiger teams of Bronte Goodhue and Lindsey Liles, Kate Johnston and Clementina Davila, and Taylor Childress and Annie Veron all won.
In fact, the Tigers combined to outscore Biola in doubles by a score of 24-5.
In singles action Liles won at No. 1, 6-2, 6-0 while Merchant won at No. 2 by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Davila then swept at No. 3 with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score while Maggie Crumbliss dominated her match with another 6-0, 6-0 victory.
In the final two positions Veron won by a score of 6-0, 6-1 while Childress earned a strong 6-1, 6-0 straight-set win.
Playing as individuals Ann Meg Keatley won in singles 8-1 while Mariah Smith and Connor Thomas earned a perfect 8-0 match in doubles action.
Sewanee returns to action with a 9:00 a.m. (PST) match against Salisbury, Wednesday.
