Benjamin heads in game-winner over Rhodes

Box Score

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2015) – A header from senior Teddy Benjamin late in the second half led Sewanee to a 1-0 victory over rival Rhodes, Friday, at Puett Field.

Benjamin headed home the game-winner off a great serve from Richard Huber. Instead of playing a corner kick to the box, Sewanee elected to play to Huber, who then served the ball in from inside midfield.

Sewanee had a number of chances early the match, as the Tigers fired 10 attempts in the opening period. Rhodes rallied back in the second half with nine shots after not taking one in the first half.

Overall, Sewanee finished with 14-9 edge in shots.

Ramsey Seagle led the attack with seven attempts while on defense keeper Will Merriman finished with two saves.

The Tigers earned their first win in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play this season. Sewanee, winners of two straight, will look to keep its momentum going on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. contest against Hendrix.
