Volleyball falls against Pikeville and Cumberland

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 6, 2014) – The Sewanee volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday against Pikeville and Cumberland inside the Fowler Athletic Center.

After winning the first set, Sewanee dropped a 3-1 decision against Pikeville (12-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-21) and then fell in a thrilling five-set contest against Cumberland (24-26, 25-20, 25-17, 17-25, 15-13).

On the afternoon senior Jamie Sue Wilson led the attack with 30 kills while fellow outside hitter Diamond Stewart added 22 kills.

At setter, senior Rachel Schuman finished with 39 assists while sophomore Walker Buxton pitched in 26.

Finally, Sara Jayne Sutton finished with 49 digs.

Sewanee returns to action with a 7:00 p.m. (EST) match at Covenant, Tuesday.
