No. 20 W&L ends No. 19 Sewanee's winning streak at 10

SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 17, 2014) – In a rematch last season's NCAA first round matchup, rival No. 20 Washington & Lee defeated the No. 19 Sewanee women's tennis team 7-2, Thursday, at the Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center.

With the loss, Sewanee fell to 17-3 overall and 5-2 at home. Additionally, the Generals snapped the Tigers' 10-match winning streak. Last season Sewanee defeated W&L twice by a 5-4 score.

Despite a win at No. 1 doubles by Bronte Goodhue and Lindsey Liles, the Generals rallied for victories at No. 2 and No. 3.

In singles action No. 5 Sonja Meighan topped Goodhue 6-1, 6-2.

Liles then tried to rally Sewanee with a strong 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Meghan Buell. However, W&L answered back with straight set wins at the remaining four singles positions.
