SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2014) – The No. 15 Sewanee women's tennis team routed Piedmont College 9-0 on Saturday morning.
The Tigers were solid from the very beginning. They started by sweeping all three doubles points before carrying each of their six singles matches to start the season, 1-0.
Sewanee jumped out ahead early by securing all three doubles matches. Senior Mary Taylor Tepper teamed with sophomore Annie Veron to take the first point at No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Elske Parker and Kate Johnston were the winners at No. 2 doubles 8-3, while Connor Thomas and Mariah Smith finished the sweep at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
The nationally-ranked Tigers then rolled to straight set wins in all six singles spots.
Sewanee will be back in action next weekend as they host a pair of nationally ranked team. The Tigers are scheduled to play No. 2 Emory and No. 25 Case Western on February 22 and 23.
