SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 4, 2014) – Despite making the match closer throughout the contest, the Sewanee volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Birmingham-Southern, Saturday, inside Bill Battle Coliseum.

After losing the first set 25-10, Sewanee played the host Panthers close the final two sets. BSC edged out the Tigers 25-22 and 26-24.

The Tigers finished with .180 attack percentage despite only hitting .111 in the first set. The final two frames, Sewanee improved with .175 attack percentage in the second set and a .227 mark in the final set.

Individually, Jamie Sue Wilson led the Tigers with 11 kills. A big number of those attacks came from classmate Rachel Shuman, who dished out 15 assists.

On defense, Sara Jayne Sutton continued to play well with 26 digs. That total was only one off her season-high, which she set against LaGrange and Pikeville.

Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 1:00 p.m. match at Millsaps, Sunday.
