No. 18 women's tennis team blows out Piedmont, 9-0

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 22, 2013) – The No. 18-ranked Sewanee women's tennis team stayed unbeaten with a perfect 9-0 victory against Piedmont College, Friday, on the Charlotte Guerry Tennis Courts.

This season, Sewanee (2-0) has not dropped a single point after victories against Piedmont and NAIA-ranked Martin Methodist.

In doubles play, Piedmont failed to win more than two games as the Tigers breezed past the Lions.

In singles action, Bronte Goodhue, Mary Taylor Tepper, and Elske Parker did not drop a single game in either set.

Additionally, Annie Veron and Connor Thomas lost only one game after each player earned 6-1, 6-0 straight set wins.

Finally, Mariah Smith blew past Erin Krause in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

The Tigers will close out their early homestand with a 2:00 p.m., contest against Transylvania, Saturday.
