Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 2, 2013) – An overtime goal by freshman Christian Gonzalez helped the Sewanee men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre, Saturday.
Sewanee has now won two straight 1-0 matches which improves the Tigers' overall record to 8-7-2.
Despite an onslaught of shots by Cente, Sewanee stood strong. In the overtime period, Centre missed two shots wide before Gonzalez ripped home the game-winner in the 97th minute.
Overall, the Colonels held a 31-11 advantage in shots. Centre also finished with 11 corner attempts.
Despite all those offensive tries, Sewanee freshman keeper Holden Foster earned his seventh victory after he stopped eight shots on goal.
In fact, with another shutout, Foster now leads the SAA with in save percentage (.831).
On offense, Gonzalez and junior Ford Emerson led the attack with three shots each.
With the regular season over, Sewanee will now wait to see who they will draw in the upcoming SAA Tournament.
