Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2013) – Three first-half goals helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Oglethorpe to a 5-2 victory Saturday at Puett Field.
The Stormy Petrels, who are receiving votes in the latest NSCAA South Atlantic poll, scored three goals in the first half despite holding only a two-shot advantage over the Tigers.
Down 3-0 at the intermission, Sewanee got on the board when Ford Emerson played a pass through the OU defense that found William White. From there, White took two dribbles and beat keeper Vaughn Moore.
Unfortunately, the Stormy Petrels netted consecutive goals from Nick Muntean and Nick Williamson during a two-minute stretch that gave OU a commanding 5-1 lead.
Late in the match, freshman Reed Dowdy added Sewanee's second goal.
Overall, OU edged out Sewanee in shots 18-13. Despite that, the Tigers did hold a close 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Individually, White led the attack with four shots. Solly Thomas and Emerson also added two attempts in the physical contest.
Sewanee returns to action with a 7:00 p.m. match at Millsaps, October 11th.
