Sewanee wins second straight; down Hendrix, 68-56

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 27, 2013) – Led by five players in double figures, the Sewanee men's basketball team earned a 68-56 win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix, Sunday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

With the victory, the Tigers improved to 10-7 overall and 3-5 in the SAA. Additionally, Sewanee is now 6-3 at home and has won three out of its last four conference contests.

Like Friday night, the Tigers came out strong. Back-to-back threes by senior Brett Bouldin and Tyler Brown pushed the Sewanee advantage to six, 20-14, midway through the first half. After another make by Bouldin and layup by Keshonn Carter, the lead continued to grow over the final five minutes.

After making 58.3 percent of its shots in the first half, Sewanee stayed hot after the break. The Tigers finished 12-of-21 (57.1 percent) in the second half, which helped sustain their lead.

After shooting its third-highest field-goal percentage of the season Friday (55.3 percent), Sewanee topped that mark Sunday.

Overall, the Tigers finished 26-of-45 (57.8 percent) from the floor.

Additionally, Sewanee dominated Hendrix inside. The Tigers outscored the Warriors by 12 points in the paint.

Individually, Tyler Brown led Sewanee with a game-high 15 points. Additionally, Bouldin added 13 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one block.

Three other Tigers also finished with double-digit points. Freshmen Leo Born and Carter added 12 points while junior guard Valentino Bryant finished with 11.

Sewanee will look to extend its winning streak to three games, when the Tigers travel to Toccoa Falls, Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
