NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 29, 2012) – In a five and a half hour marathon played in high heat conditions, the Sewanee Tigers lost a close, hard-fought match today to top-seeded Trinity University 6-3 in the finals of the SCAC Women's Tennis Championships.
Trailing 4-0 after the doubles matches and a decided singles match, the Tigers fought back to take the first set in the other five singles spots.
Bronte Goodhue continued her hot play with a straight set win (6-1, 6-2) at \#2 singles. Michelle Flume and Anne Garland were able to break through with third set wins in spite of suffering from cramps caused by the heat.
In the extremely even singles competition, Jenny Liles and Mary Taylor Tepper were tied 3-3 and 4-4, respectively, in the third and deciding set before falling to their Trinity opponents.
