Sewanee, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2012) – The Sewanee Women's tennis team stayed perfect today after defeating the visiting Cumberland Bulldogs 9-0. Freshman Liz Lucas fought to a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles to earn the 6th point for the Tigers.
The doubles teams of Jenny Liles and Bronte Goodhue, Michelle Flume and Anne Garland, and Mary Taylor Tepper and Liz Lucas defeated their opponents by scores of 8-0, 8-1, and 8-0 to give Sewanee a 3-0 lead going into the singles matches. All six Tigers who competed in doubles had no problem disposing of their singles opponents, and both Flume and Gaither did not drop a single game in either of their sets.
