SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2012) – Turnovers and a poor second half shooting percentage stymied the Sewanee women's basketball team Sunday, as the Tigers dropped a 55-46 decision against Millsaps inside Juhan Gymnasium.
The Tigers wrap up their season with a 10-14 overall record while going 4-12 in conference play. Additionally, Sunday's contest was the final time seniors Alex Ginsburg, Virginia Zakas, Dani Kabbes, Claire Elliott, and Logan Miller wore the Sewanee uniform.
Down 10 points at the half, Sewanee fought hard out of the locker room. The Tigers got as close as seven, 34-27, when Ginsburg hit a three with 16:14 left. Unfortunately, any comeback effort was short lived after Sewanee hit only 29 percent of its attempts from there. Additionally, Millsaps used its speed and pressure to force 20 Tiger turnovers.
Sewanee was led by Kabbes and junior guard Dana Middleton, who each scored nine points. Freshman Kayla Sewell added six points to go along with three blocks, four assists, and six rebounds.
The Majors were led by guard Lovie Love, who had a game-high 17 points and seven steals. Millsaps also got double figure scoring from forward Shante Morton, who added 10 points.
