Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Nov. 27, 2012) – For the second straight season the Sewanee men's basketball team is a perfect 3-0, after the Tigers defeated Emory & Henry 87-59 Tuesday.
With the win Tuesday, the Tigers have now won eight out of their last nine contests inside Juhan Gymnasium dating back to December 18, 2011.
In front of their home crowd for the first time this season, the Tigers played off their energetic fans early.
Sewanee led 4-0 with less than a minute off the clock, after senior Tyler Brown hit a layup.
Later in the first half, Sewanee stretched its lead to 22-11 when senior Brett Bouldin hit his second three of the night.
After a layup and free throw by Tyler Mullins cut the EHC deficit to eight, 22-14, the Tigers responded with a 13-8 run to finish the half.
Out of the locker room, the Tigers continued to pull away again behind Bouldin's outside shooting. The Crossville, Ala., native connected on back-to-back threes which put the Tigers ahead, 41-22.
From there, Emory & Henry could not manage a comeback after Sewanee's defense forced 10 second-half turnovers and held the Wasps to 12-of-28 shooting.
Overall, the Tigers finished 30-of-62 (48.4 percent) from the floor. Additionally, the Tigers converted a season-high 20-of-22 (90.0 percent) free throw attempts.
Individually, Bouldin led Sewanee with a team-high 16 points. Fellow guard Nilan Hodge added 11 points while Brown and senior Lewis Affronti pitched in nine.
Guard Myles Turner led Emory & Henry with a game-high 18 points.
The Tigers will put their winning streak on-the-line as Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre travels to Sewanee, Saturday. Tipoff is schedule for 3:00 p.m., inside Juhan Gymnasium.
