Box Score ROME, Ga. (Oct. 12, 2012) – The Sewanee men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Southern Athletic Association member Berry, Friday afternoon at Ford Field.
With the loss, Sewanee fell to 3-8-2 overall and 0-2-2 in league play. Berry, who moved into second place in the SAA, improved 10-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
After neither team scored in the first 45 minutes, the Vikings finally broke through when Zak Wallingford headed a pass from Matt Majestic in the second half.
Berry would add one more goal, when Matt Seib scored off a pass inside the box by Caleb Lucas.
As a team, the Vikings led Sewanee in shots, 16-6. Additionally, Berry fired six corner kicks.
Sophomore Ford Emerson led the attack with three shots, including two on goal. Jared Zissu, Walker Ueland, and Gervais Baker each finished with one shot attempt.
Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Jacob Zalewski had a match-high six saves.
The Tigers quickly return to action against Christopher Newport, Sunday. That match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.
