Atlanta, Ga. - The \#21 Sewanee women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision Tuesday to the top-ranked team in Division III, the Emory University Eagles. The \#1 Eagles took all three doubles matches from the Tigers before sweeping the singles matches. With the loss, Sewanee falls to 15-5 on the season.
The Atlantic Region's \#6 doubles duo Kate Stanford and Jenny Liles of Sewanee dropped an 8-1 decision to Emory's Lorne McManigle and Gabrielle Clark at \#1 doubles, before Michelle Flume and Anne Garland fell in the \#2 spot, 8-2, to Brenna Kelly and Malavika Padmanabhan. Emory's Zahra Dawson and Taylor Brandt topped Lindsay Wilburn and Laura Szyperski at \#3 doubles, winning 8-1.
Liles, playing at \#1 singles, fell to McManigle, 6-4, 6-3, before Emory's Dawson won at \#2 singles, 6-3, 6-2, over Flume. Padmanabhan won a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Garland in the \#3 spot, while Sewanee's Julia Wood fell 6-4, 6-3 to Laura Cavalla at \#4 singles. Eagle Lindsay Reidenbach topped Wilburn at \#5 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0, and Sewanee's Mary Taylor Tepper dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at \#6 singles to Brandt.
The Tigers will play again on April 13 as they play host to Covenant College at 2 p.m.
