SEWANEE, Tenn. – Number 27 Sewanee hosted fellow SCAC member Oglethorpe in women's tennis at the Charlotte Guerry indoor courts and won all but one match for the 8-1 win.
Julia Wood (Tulsa, Okla., Union) and Jenny Liles (Little Rock, Ark., Mount St. Mary) shut out the Danielson/Burt team from OU at \# doubles and the rest followed for a 3-0 sweep in doubles. Faced with the challenge of playing under a full moon, Devin Tellatin (St. Louis, Mo., Ladue) and \#Michelle Flume\# (San Antonio, Tex., St. Mary's Hall)won at \#2 and Laura Szyperski (Atlanta, Ga., Lovett) and Miriam Pate (Chattanooga, Tenn., CSAS) picked up a commanding 8-1win at \#3.
In the singles potion, Lindsay Wilburn (Hilton Head, S.C., Hilton Head Christian) stepped up to \#1 singles and got a 6-4, 6-0 win over Danielson. Derry Roberson (San Ignacio, Belize, St. Stephen's Episcopal), Meredith Lawrence (Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth Hall), Kathleen Catherall (Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth Hall) and Mary Catherine Horne (Columbia, S.C., AC Flora) picked up singles wins and Sarah Dickey (Rochester Hills, Mich.) dropped a tough match in the six-spot 1-6, 6-3, 10-4.
Sewanee is now 3-2 and will play Rhodes, \#15 Washington University and Kenyon next weekend.
