Sewanee Women Nearly Upend Austin, Morrison Scores 23

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee led Austin College most of the game behind Kelly Morrison's 23 points and 15 total Sewanee steals, but the visiting 'Roos rallied late, taking the lead with four minutes left and earning the eventual 76-72 women's basketball win. Sewanee led 38-31 at the half.

Morrison (Bridgeport, W. Va., Notre Dame) was the high-scorer for Sewanee, followed by Danielle Kabbes (Chesterfield, Mo., Villa Duchesne) with nine. Katy Williams led the 'Roos with 16 points and 21 rebounds. Virginia Zakas (Atlanta, Ga., Westminster) led Sewanee's defense with five steals. Austin had a 41-32 edge in field goal percentage. Sewanee's 15 steals took the Tiger per game average to 14.6 and the Tigers are leading the country with a 9.9 three-pointer per game average.

Sewanee is now 5-12 and 1-8 in the SCAC. Austin College is 14-3 and 8-1. Sewanee will play at Millsaps and Hendrix next weekend.
